Optical Design Services for Streetlighting
High-Precision Optics
Streetlighting is a complex application. Precision Optical Design is essential to enhace safety, visual comfort and quality
“We design custom optical systems that go beyond of standard, off-the-shelf optics. These solutions are ideal for luminaire manufacturers who want to develop their own high-performance components—enhancing product quality, differentiation, and market value“
.
Services
We specialize in designing optics for street lighting luminaires, including lenses, reflectors, hybrid optical systems, and more.
We provide the Optical Design & the Technical Support needed to help your project achieve the required photometric results.

Optical Design
Custom Precision Optics from Scratch
We design High-Precision Optics tailored to your specific application, fully adapted to the physical constraints of the luminaire housing.
Problem-Solving and Optimization
We analyze photometric test results and issues in prototypes or in-use luminaires when optical performance deviates from expectations.
Upgrading Existing Luminaires
We identify opportunities to improve current products through better optics, whether using custom solutions or high-quality commercial components.
Engineering Support
Team Collaboration
We collaborate with your internal optical engineering or product development teams to review and refine optical designs for better performance and manufacturability.
Support During Product Development
We assist at different stages of the project—from early optical feasibility to final photometric validation—helping teams make informed technical decisions.
Material Selection and Design Improvements
We provide guidance in selecting optical materials (PMMA, polycarbonate, silicone, etc.) and assist in improving the performance of existing designs.

Work Process & Collaboration Model

Our approach begins by addressing many critical optical aspects that are often overlooked or undervalued, (more about these here)—yet they have a direct impact on lighting quality, efficiency, and visual comfort.
Our designs are based on your project’s specific requirements, typically aligned with standards such as IESNA RP-8 or EN13201. We don’t just design isolated optics—we can develop complete optical systems that take into account the full lighting layout and the contribution of other luminaires, just as it should be done for truly comfortable and efficient street lighting
.
Work Model
It is natural for companies not to continuously develop optics; instead, they typically do so during specific periods when there is a technological change or a new generation of luminaires, among other factors. Depending on the nature and scope of the project, we can work as a external designer team or as or as temporary team members, supporting your internal staff during the development process.
Who We Work With
These solutions are primarily aimed at companies that want to design and manufacture their own optics for lighting luminaires. The goal is to meet specific technical needs that add value to their products and differentiate them from common solutions in the market
Design specifications and Requirements
The first step in every optical design project is defining the product requirements and writing detailed specifications. In many cases, this step is the most critical.
To build a successful product, it’s essential to understand what needs to be developed, why, and how well it must perform. This analytical phase is often overlooked, but attempting to develop a product without agreed-upon specifications leads almost inevitably to poor results.
We work closely with our clients to define precise, realistic, and measurable requirements. These specifications become a strategic reference throughout the project.
As the design concept evolves, specifications may need to be refined. We provide support to manage this process efficiently and transparently.
Confidentiality & Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA)
All communication—including designs, files, and emails—is handled with the highest level of care and confidentiality.
If required, we can establish a mutual Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) to protect sensitive information and ensure full peace of mind during the collaboration.
Software & Technical Tools
In most cases, our clients provide access to their preferred optical design software during the development process.
If no license is available, we can acquire temporary access to the necessary tools, specifically for the duration of the project.
We have extensive experience using:
LightTools
SolidWorks
We are also proficient in:
Speos
Photopia
Zemax – Non Sequential
TracePro
Each tool is used strategically, depending on the nature of the design. You can visit our project portfolio to see how and where each software has been applied.
