T3-2×6 Road
This lens was developed to comply with the lighting criteria specified in RP-8 and was evaluated across the most common lighting scenarios for highways, addressing both illuminance and luminance standards
Features
- Low Glare
- Luminance / Illuminance comply
- Uniformity
Challenges
The primary challenge for this optical system was to generate a lighting pattern on the pavement that meets the required range of illuminance and luminance levels in the most critical areas for drivers
Solution
Given that the intensity curves required to meet illuminance and luminance criteria differ significantly, it was not feasible to satisfy both parameters simultaneously. The solution involved prioritizing the illumination of areas furthest from the luminaire, where drivers rely more on their vehicle’s lighting than on the luminaire itself, as well as the first two traffic lanes. This approach created zones designed to comply with illuminance and luminance standards in areas where drivers are more susceptible to low lighting conditions and increased glare
